What counts as one research page?
One research page is one structured evidence artifact built from one source: the source and its metadata, a link, a one paragraph summary, a paragraph on how it relates to your question, recommendations, and provenance with a completeness status. It is a unit of evidence, not a count of generated words.
Why is every estimate a range?
A short accessible article and a 40 page paper behind a slow server do not cost the same to find, fetch, and read. We quote a range because that is the honest shape of the cost. The exact price for a specific run is quoted before that run starts.
What happens when a run reaches my limit?
It stops before the next expensive operation, saves its state, and returns everything it finished with a coverage message such as 7 of 100 requested research pages are complete. Approving more capacity resumes from the last checkpoint rather than starting over.
Can a run spend more than I approved?
No. The approved cap is enforced by the harness, not by a warning email afterwards. Passing it requires you to approve the additional capacity first.
Is a research thread a chat session?
No. A thread is durable. Sources and artifacts stay in it after a run ends, and a later prompt continues the same collection. Prior artifacts are deliberately kept out of the agent context window, so a thread with 900 sources in it does not become slower or more expensive to add to.
Where do the sources come from?
Scholarly catalogues for papers and authors, and general web search for everything else. You can narrow a run to specific resource kinds, and on Team you can also filter by domain, publication date, and language. Only public pages are retrieved. Paywalls and login walls are not circumvented.
Do you keep the full text of what you read?
For a limited window, so follow-up work on an artifact does not need to fetch the page again. The retention window is 7 days on Trial, 30 days on Starter, and 180 days on Team and Scale. The artifacts themselves stay as long as the thread does.
Is my research private?
Yes. Prompts, sources, artifacts, and traces are private by default and are not used as training data or resale inventory. You can export or delete a thread and everything stored under it at any time.
Does Research Capacity work on other Vidbyte harnesses?
Yes. Research Capacity is Vidbyte Credits in one shared wallet under one account. This page prices it in research pages because that is the unit that means something here, but the balance is the same balance every other harness draws from.
How is this different from asking a chatbot to do research?
A chat answer is a paragraph you have to trust. This returns a collection you can audit: every source kept with its link and provenance, a stated position on how each one relates to your question, an explicit record of what was and was not covered, and a thread you can keep adding to next month.
Can I buy more than 100,000 research pages?
Yes, through our team rather than the slider. Above 50,000 pages we agree terms, invoicing, and rate limits with you first, so write to contact@vidbyte.pro and describe the work.
